save the date! next concert…November 23, 2014

Well hello there! We have news for you about the first concert of the 2014-2015 season, at Pyatt Hall on Sunday November 23…

Time, Distance, Memory is a program of music inspired by the far corners of the Earth and the farthest reaches of imagination and memory. Hot on the heels of their most successful season yet, Standing Wave will perform three iconic pieces of 20th Century chamber music, George Crumb’s Eleven Echoes of Autumn, Claude Vivier’s Pulau Dewata, and Thomas AdèsCatch.

The evening will feature the premiere of Stolen Materials/Stolen Time, by Vancouver’s Jennifer Butler, a composer whose music is known for its rich and resonant lyricism. Walking in Claude’s Footprints, Jordan Nobles’ arrangement of Debussy’s Des pas sur la neige, will round out this program of haunting, evocative chamber music.
