in an archipelago is Standing Wave’s seventh album, featuring bold works by James O’Callaghan, Mason Bates, Bekah Simms, and Dorothy Chang. Each piece explores the boundaries of sound and texture, from the immersive, mind-bending sonic landscapes of O’Callaghan’s title work to the rhythmic energy of Bates’s Difficult Bamboo, the expressive intensity of Simms’s single Red flower and metamold, and the distinctive voice of Dorothy Chang in her beautiful Of All Things Elusive. in an archipelago was recorded at CBC Studio One in Vancouver with recording engineer Will Howie and showcases the six musicians of Standing Wave at their finest.

The culmination of a decade-long project, 20C Remix comprises music from the last century reimagined by seven of today’s leading Canadian composers. These new pieces, all written especially for Standing Wave, showcase the composers’ individual voices while still conveying the essence of the original works. Jocelyn Morlock reimagines Ann Southam, and Nicole Lizée de- and re-constructs Dead or Alive and Justin Timberlake. Colourful and fascinating new works by Jordan Nobles, Jennifer Butler, Christopher Mayo, Bekah Simms and Jared Miller are also featured.
This album garnered a Juno nomination for Classical Album of the Year (small ensemble) in 2022, as well as a Western Canadian Music Award for Classical Artist/Ensemble of the Year.

Redline (2006)
Redline features three commissioned works by Canadian composers: 10M-5P-17m (2005), by Howard Bashaw; palladia (2001), by Bradshaw Pack; and Incipits (2003), by Chris Paul Harman.
The CD was produced by Dylan van der Schyff and Standing Wave and recorded at Factory Studios in June 2006. The commissions were made possible through the support of the Canada Council (10M-5P-17m and Incipits) and Acoustic Panel (palladia), and the recording was made possible through the assistance of the Canada Music Fund and the Music Section of the Canada Council for the Arts.

Standing Wave (1991)
Standing Wave’s first recording, a self-titled CD, features new works written especially for the group by Canadian composers in a variety of styles, ranging from the evocative, blues-reminiscent the earth for you a standing place by Bradshaw Pack to the playful Farandole II by Jacqueline Leggatt to the thrilling ride of Stark Raving by John Korsrud. Other classic chamber works of the 20th century are represented as well, including Pierre Boulez’ Dérive, Elliott Carter’s Con Leggerezza Pensosa and Claude Vivier’s poignant tribute to Southeast Asia, Paramirabo.
