Standing Wave presents Acousmatic, a concert of electro-acoustic music that will challenge, thrill, mesmerize, and surprise! The mysterious territory that lies between pre-organized sound and music…the common ground shared by acoustic and electronic music…these will be explored.
The concert will feature the world premieres of Vancouver native James O’Callaghan’s subject / object, and Giorgio Magnanensi’s TDU XXI. Standing Wave will also perform Laurie Anderson’s seminal electro-pop classic O Superman, arranged by Alfredo Santa Ana, Gordon Fitzell`s Evanescence, as well as the Canadian premiere of Four Thousand Holes by John Luther Adams. The ensemble will be joined by special guests Giorgio Magnanensi, Stefan Smulovitz and the legendary Veda Hille!
